Henry Vilas Park Zoological Society (The Friends of the Zoo), has been the Henry Vilas Zoo's member-supported fundraising organization since 1914. The Henry Vilas Park Zoological Society Inc. is a legally recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and it is also exempt from state sales tax.

The Henry Vilas Park Zoological Society, promotes the Zoo's mission to conserve and protect the wonders of the living natural world, to build an understanding by people of animals by promoting conservation, and to provide high quality recreational and educational experiences to over 500,000 annual visitors. Annual fund raising revenue is used to support capital improvements or maintenance projects at the Henry Vilas Zoo.
